With four Poke'balls at his belt filled, Zane was looking for a fifth to fill one of the empty slots. But what an area he was in! No water to be seen, no water for his precious new Poke'mon to frolic in. There had to be water somewhere; how else could the poke'mon of the area live? So Zane began his search for water so that Gorn might have a place to battle if he were to encounter a wild poke'mon. Of course, finding water on the vast stretch of plains wasn't going to be easy, but the trainer knew it had to be out here somewhere. Perhaps a watering hole nearby both held liquid and wild poke'mon; one for Gorn and the other for him.

It took what seemed like ages to find a body of fresh water to let Gorn out, and it was filled with exciting battles with wild Poke'mon. At first, Zane ran into the god awful Bellsprout of the plains. It seemed like it had a vendetta against him or something because it attacked without warning. Arak was quickly chosen to represent Zane in the battle, as the young trainer had learned that poison was particularly effective against grass types thanks to his Poke'dex. In a quick bout, Spinarak had the Bellsprout groaning in pain from his poison and they continued onward on their adventure.
Next up came a Nidoran, and he didn't want to put his bug poke'mon in danger of being hurt by that powerful horn. So Zane sent out his best, Abra to take care of the creature. The particular Nidoran was in fact the leader of a group, staying behind to fight while the others escaped into nooks and crannies. It quickly attacked Abra, but the mental bond between trainer and poke'mon had already won the battle. "Teleport behind it and around it until it gets frustrated, then attack from above." Zane directed. Abra did so with ease as the wild poke'mon had no trainer to let it know what was going on. it had no chance as the Abra used the same tactic to take it down as he did Spinarak. As Zane continued forward, he knelt next to the Nidoran. "Grow up strong and protect those you care for." he said.
Soon enough, they had found a large enough watering hole for Gorn to come out and swim around in. By that time it had already been an hour and Zane was ready for a quick rest. When he first arrived, there was no poke'mon in the area. Either an off or just bad luck. So he let his quartet of creatures out into the open to stretch and take in some fresh air. "Get a drink and rest up. If nothing shows up here, then we are at least going to get some training in." he said aloud and watched Gorn playfully jump in and out of the water. But only three minutes later did the teen realize something wasn't right. There should have been at least some rattata scurrying around. Soon thereafter he heard a rustle in bushes behind him; Zane turned around quickly. It could have been anything so he was cautious, sending a mental thought to Abra letting him know to teleport the two bugs to the other side of the water. He too moved slowly to the other side, awaiting just what was hiding within.
Soon the green Electrike made it's presence known, seeking the intruders in it's territory. But they were already on the other side of the pond. Zane quickly could see what was going to happen. "Gorn, hide underneath. He comes in, smash him with your horn." he quickly ordered, keeping his eye on the dog like poke'mon. For a few moments, all they did was watch as the animal crouched on the other side of the pond. As soon as it began one way, the other four would walk in the opposite direction to keep the distance around the circular pond. But the Electrike was smart, or at least Zane hoped it was. It realized that the best way toward them was a straight line, but it meant swimming across. "Come on..." Zane urged.
The Electrike sniffed the water for a moment, and sensing nothing amiss began to wade in. It's head staying evenly afloat with the smooth H2O, the poke'mon began swimming across, unbeknownst to the danger that lurked in the depths below. Hopefully Gorn was paying attention to the legs that kicked above. Thankfully he was, and soon there was a yelp of pain and the water poke'mon was in the air, Electrike flying even higher. Whimpering as he spun in the air, Zane grabbed a poke'ball quickly and tossed it at the Electrike at it's apex.

The poke'ball popped back open on the water and the poke'mon was freed in a strange place. The damage done was heavy and it slowly paddled over to the edge of the pond with a glare in it's eye. Roughly getting to it's feet, the Electrike started around the edge again, getting closer to Zane. "Gorn, again!" he shouted and backed up slowly as the green poke'mons fur began to spart. In a heartbeat, Gorn exited the water at high speed it's aim true and intentions dependable. While if it had missed it would have landed outside of the water, it got the job done and dowened the Electrike once again. "Second time is the charm." he sighed and tossed another Poke'ball.

Zane's lips pursed together as he waited for that infernal shaking to end. It seemed like hours upon hours until finally something happened. The dog came out once again and Zane's mouth slowly lowered in shock. He had never failed before... it was mind blowing; this feeling of shock. In the moment of freedom, the Electrike could tell it was outnumbered and made a run for it. But Zane was still dumb founded. He fell back onto his ass starring at the water where Gorn was swimming around. Abra seemed to even wake up in his trainer's anguish. Coming over he simply sat next to him, waiting for something to happen.
Caterpie and Arak looked to each other and then back at Zane as if waiting for him to say something. When nothing was said, the two bugs began to explore the surrounding area, looking for smaller animals such as themselves, or different friendlier looking poke'mon. While away Zane just shook his head. "Why didn't it catch? We did everything right... Abra why? Was it Gorn? Was he too weak? No his power was amazing! It must have been me..." he reasoned with a depressing tone in his voice. Pulling out another Poke'ball, he looked into it, wondering if he would ever catch a poke'mon again. Abra seemed to read this from his thoguhts and placed a tri-fingered hand on it's trainers shoulder. The blonde looked to his original poke'mon. In response, the Psi poke'mon nodded his head, assuring his master that he would catch more poke'mon.
Snapping his fingers, Zane got up, his spirit reignited with both false solution and Abra's kind gesture. "I never check it on the poke'dex, so I didn't know enough to catch it." he reasoned, with falsehood laced in his words. "From now on, I need to be sure to scan every poke'mon. In fact, I still don't have Caterpie or Arak. Wait a minute, where did they go?" he asked, looking to Abra who had once again gone to sleep. "Wow, when I really need you... Gorn?" he asked, looking to his formiddable water pokemon. It would seem that he hadn't been paying attention either. "Those two... gonna get me in more trouble than their worth. Arak! Caterpie! Where are you!?" he called. No response. "Well come on Abra, I'll carry you. Gorn, stay safe here, we will be back when we find them. If you're in trouble just dive down all right?" he said, moving off to the west.
The two were some hundred yards away, fooling around and generally getting into no good with Bellsprout or Nidoran. They were setting string shot traps and luring the unaware bellsprout into them. But soon, they heard their trainer calling and began to look for places to hide as they had also set traps for him just in case. The two brats were indeed going to get him into some kind of trouble...just not what they planned.
Caterpie wriggled it's tiny little butt in anticipation. But found it's abdomen getting hotter and hotter. It wasn't the sun, for he had been in it all day, so what was it? Turning around, he found that he had been bumping into the leg of a fiery Ponyta. His pupils dilated and let out a whimper. The horse poke'mon tore at the ground with it's hoof in annoyance. The bug quickly ran towards Zane and Arak soon followed suit, unknowing of the reason why. Caterpie bounced up and down in fear trying to convey and urgency to leave. "What? What are you all worked up about?" he asked. But soon, the trainer felt the rumble of the approaching hooves. Looking up, he could see that the Ponyta had no intention of stopping. He had to come up with a plan, and fast.
"Abra, teleport back to Gorn and tell him to have an ambush ready for when we get there." he ordered. The Psi poke'mon quickly vanished to conveyed the information. Zane needed to stay with the culprit and his friend so that the Ponyta would give chase. Turning tail and hoofing it, pun intended, Zane began to run away with Poke'mon in hand. They ran for some time, the Ponyta gaining ground on them quickly. As they turned the corner, they could see Abra waiting for them. Zane quickly looked for Gorn in the water but found him no where. "Good... now let's see how you like this Ponyta." he said with a smirk and pretended to get tired.
As the fiery poke'mon rounded the corner, Gorn shot out of the water with it's horn forward. Colliding face first against the horse, a loud painful whinny blasted Zane's eardrums, and probably the eardrums of everything in the plains. He quickly took the poke'ball from his belt and threw it at the Ponyta, hoping to shut it up and take it back to the poke'center for healing.

"Waaahooo!" Zane cheered, throwing his fist up into the air. "What a plan! I can't believe it worked! Hot damn!" he cheered up and down his poke'mon looking at him strangely. "What!? Aren't you guys happy to have a new companion?" he asked. Caterpie looked fearful of the poke'ball he held in his hand. "Oh come on, you can't be afraid of her. She will be nice I am sure of it! Let's get back to town to heal her up!" he said with a wide smile, walking cheerily like DiCaprio.
