Saarda smiled sheepishly at Professor Willow as she said, "I'll take an Egg Pokemon." Wringing her hands. Nervous. She was very nervous, but excited too. She grinned as Willow showed Saarda her egg. "In just a moment, I'll place it into the hatcher, and then you'll get to meet your Pokemon for the first time." "Wow." Saarda murmured, touching the smooth surface of green and white egg shell. "Hi. I'll see you soon. Ok?" She turned to Professor Willow who was smiling at her, her eyes twinkling softly, "Alright, do it!" Willow picked the egg up, and placed it into a blue and white chamber, which glowed and let off a subtle warmth. She pressed a button on the console next to the chamber door, which lowered a clear glass plate over the opening, then a series of beeps which made the light flash. Moments later, there was a sing songey chime, then the glass plate lifted and Saarda rushed to the entrance, "Little friend?" She called softly. In answer, a soft looking mass of feathers appeared, cooing. "Hi." Saarda said, grinning, as she whipped out her newly acquired pokedex. "Who are you?" "Pidgey. A gentle bird type which, given the choice will choose flight over fight... no pun intended." Saarda's shoulders sagged just a bit. Flight over fight. "Oh. Hi." The Pidgey ruffled it's feathers, and stood up. She cocked her head, eyeing her new trainer with something between amusement and disdain. It cooed derisively, and flew out of the hatching chamber to easily land upon the Professor's shoulder. "Well, hello there Pidgey." The Professor said. "This is Saarda, your new friend." The small bird type fluttered it's wings, and flew around Saarda's head, flapping it's wings so quickly that Saarda soon became disoriented. "Wha-" "Not all Pidgey are gentle. Some enjoy the sport of teasing and taunting poor trainers. Especially young Pidgey," The Pokedex supplied, 'helpfully'. Saarda clenched her fists, "Hey! Stop that!" The Pokemon lit upon the young girl's shoulder, and eyed her, "Pidgey." It said. "Yeah, and I'm Saarda. Well... I guess..." She smiled, "It's good you've got some spunk. We're gonna be a great team, Pidge." The Pokemon cooed it's agreement, then as a pair they flew outside to embrace the day, one floating on the dream of being "the best" at something she had hardly begun, the other flitting about cooing and chirping in the sunshiney day. Outside, she spotted the people of the town strolling about some with Pokemon at their sides, some alone. It hadn't been long ago that Saarda had been one of them. She looked down at her feet, smiled, "Pidge..." She said, "I'm glad we're together." What she was really saying was that she was glad she was no longer alone in a sea of faces. "We'll be great together!"

It was Zane who happened to be wondering by with his Caterpie on his shoulder, the bug pokemon was vigilant as ever in it's regal display of power. If only the young pokemon realized how young and frail it was. Nonetheless, it was this attitude that lead Zane to keep Caterpie out of it's pokeball and on his shoulder, for whenever they encountered others, it's reactions were amazingly complex and funny like a humans. The teen wanted to give a nickname to his Caterpie, but nothing that seemed just right was coming to mind.
Zane happened to be on his way to the Poke'mon association to get registered as an official trainer and receive a poke'dex when he passed Willow's lab and the new trainer exiting it. It was quite the place to be now a days, as Turnstone village was the starting point for all trainers in the Kyozon region. He was lead to believe that once enough trainers had left with Poke'mon from Prof. Willow, then the League would install gyms so that the trainers would be able to challenge themselves.
But that was when Zane noticed this one particular face. A young teen like him who seemed a bit shorter than his height. There was something in her expression that looked like genuine happiness for her pokemon, and it was great seeing someone like that; someone who wasn't here just to work their pokemon to death. He could tell this girl was going to have something special with Pidgey. As he slowly made his way over, Caterpie let out some terrifying cries as it saw Pidgey, one of it's natural predators. It quickly crawled backward along Zane's back until it perched on his hip, between his side and satchel. "Scardy cat!" he cooed and continued over to her with a smile. The Caterpie didn't appreciate the comment and began making all sorts of cute little mockery noises. Zane just shook his head and said hello. "Hey there, my name is Zane, I must say that you and your Pidgey there look like a great partners. I am a new trainer myself." he said with a smile and put his hand forward to shake.

Saarda had noticed Zane, but hadn't quite thought he was going to talk to her. She fumbled mentally, before realizing how red her face had become, and shaking his awkwardly. "I'm Saarda." She said. Pidge cooed loudly from where she was flitting about above their heads, and suddenly dropped alarmingly out of the air, landing heavily, but on it's feet, on the ground. When Saarda realized her Pokemon didn't seem injured, she sighed, "And this is Pidge." Pidge flapped her wings rediculously, then she caught sight of the small bug Pokemon on Zane's hip. She straightened attentively, eyeing it for a moment, before flapping back up to Saarda's shoulder where she began to preen. "She's a little odd." Saarda shrugged with a smile. "Nice Caterpie." She said, "It's really cute."

Zane was smiling at the coloring of the girls face. She apparently hadn't been prepared for a confrontation by him and was at a loss of words momentarily. She gave her name with a red face and Zane nodded his head. Thankfully her dorky little Pidgey randomly dropped out of the air only to land perfectly fine on the ground; it was an ice breaker of sorts and she gave her name.
After introducing herself and her pokemon, and shaking his hand, the bird flew up to her shoulder and eyed his Caterpie. Saarda suggested the Pidgey was odd and Zane had to disagree. "No, it's probably just young!" he laughed. After she mentioned his Caterpie, he remembered the point he was trying to make to it. The teen looked down to his bug pokemon with a smile and pointed at him. "See, trainer pokemon are not gonna attack unless we battle." he said, making his point to the careful little pokemon. The Caterpie murmured noises and slowly crawled it's way back up to his shoulder and propped itself up trying to attain a height more than Pidgey. "Yea he is pretty cute, a bit too careful, but I can train that out of him in no time. I actually caught him only a couple hours ago. Did you plan on going out and catching any pokemon? Or are you gonna hang with your Pidgey here some more?" he asked.

Saarda smiled and waved at Caterpie as he crawled up and stood as tall as his little body could manage. Pidge noticed and straightened out, and- Saarda had a feeling spite was involved- she flapped up to stand upon her trainer's head. Looking up at Pidge who had leaned over to make eye contact with Saarda, she puffed a breath so that her hair would brush Pidge's beak. The bird pokemon ruffled her feathers and sat back up. If the Pidgey could have managed it, Saarda was certain it would have stuck it's tongue out at the Caterpie. "I was thinking about taking Pidge out to the Silent Grove after some training." Saarda said, "She is young, just hatched a little while ago, in fact." Saarda smiled tentatively, then she shrugged. "I'm sure Caterpie will do great... what about you? Are you going to stick around here, or...?" She looked out at town, at the many exits and entrances to town, "I hear a Pokemon league is going to start up soon. That's... well, that's actually the reason I came here. To be a part of something new. Nobody else knows how great this region's gym leaders will be, because nobody has met them." Dreams flashed before her eyes, and strengthened her resolve. Then, she cocked her head, "You said you just caught Caterpie? What other Pokemon do you have? Which one helped you catch him?"

Caterpie watched the Pidgey it moved from her shoulder to on top of her head so that it could be higher. Zane's felt his pokemon scrambled up the side of his head eagerly, it made him shiver from the feeling. Soon enough, Caterpie was stretching it's worm like body into the air to surpass the Pidgey's previous height. Zane wondered how he looked in front of the people walking by, with a Bug Crown on top of his head. He chuckled slightly and shook his head making his Caterpie lose balance and began to fall. The new trainer caught the small pokemon in his arms caringly and lifted him back up to his shoulder perch. "You dork, stop that." he directed. The Caterpie scoffed and kept it's eyes on Pidgey.
Zane listened to what his new acquaintance said about her Pidgey. It had been newly hatched with the same machine that Zane got his Abra fun. "Oh she really is just a baby." The young teen responded and pondered for a moment on her Pidgey and how strong it might be. She brought up the Pokemon League and that lead into Zane's reason for being in the town at that time.
He thought also of taking on the challenge, but not for fame. The young man merely wanted to test his pokemon against certified trainers instead of wild pokemon. "I was actually on my way to the Poke'mon association building in town to register as a trainer and get a Poke'dex, then I was going to head out to explore the area around Turnstone village some more, maybe catch a few more pokemon. In fact, I haven't been to the grove yet. So maybe we could head there together?" he offered with a smile.
"As for my other pokemon," he began after her last question. "I have two more. The one that helped me catch Caterpie was this girl here. Arak come on out." he said with a smile, taking a pokeball from his belt and dropping it to the ground. His Spinarak quickly took shape and the ball returned to his hand and he placed it back on his belt. "It was Spinarak's poison sting that lead to Caterpie's capture, and we are greatful for it aren't we Arak?" The small bug pokemon looked at his trainer, the face on it's back turning to a smile. But then it noticed the Pidgey and backed away, climbing up Zane's side to his empty shoulder. Now both bug pokemon were glaring at their natural enemy. "Dope head, she is friendly..." he mumbled and then pulled the third Poke'ball.
Opening it from his hand, the Psi Pokemon Abra appeared in his sitting position, breathing as he did when he was sleeping. "This is Abra, my first poke'mon from Professor Willow. He pretty much sleeps all the time, but somehow he can still fight and read peoples minds. That was the main reason I wanted a Poke'dex; I wanted to learn more about Abra here." he explained and then looked at Saarda. He spoke alot in a short time, and it might have overwhelmed her.

Pidgey chuckled as the worm and the spider pokemon glared at her. She was making the Pidgey equivalent of funny faces at the bug types. "Pidge, be nice." Saarda scolded quietly, shaking her head so that Pidge would move, which she did, hopping from head to shoulder, but made no move to apologize.
Zane looked thoughtful as he said said "Oh she really is just a baby."
"Yep." She grinned at her Pokemon who was settling stoicly, almost as though pretending she hadn't just been doing something she shouldn't have. Zane mentioned that he was going to the Pokemon association building to get his Pokedex, Saarda fumbled through her pockets, and pulled hers out. "You're getting a new one? I've already got one. It was my mom's from when she was a trainer a long time ago. It's already got a lot of information on it. Mostly from the Kanto region." She shrugged, "I'll come with you if you want, then we can go to the grove."
As the Spinerack wiggled her pincers at Pidge, in what might be considered a warning gesture, Saarda smiled, "She's a bold one. I guess if I had just come face to face with something that might want to eat me, I'd be a little leery too, so don't worry about it, I'm sure she's awesome." Pidge huffed. "C'mon, just because she's a bug Pokemon doesn't mean you have to be enemies. You should be friendlier." Saarda said, then moving her thoughts to the Abra before her, she knelt, "My mom said she knew someone with an Abra when she was a kid. The trainer of the Abra said that they can do pretty much anything they can awake while they're asleep, like attack and teleport. I don't know if that's true though." She shrugged. "Hey. Do you think I should get a new Pokedex when we go the Pokemon Association Building? I mean, it'd be nice to have one that wasn't a hand-me-down, and so beat up, but the information stored inside it could be really useful..."

Zane smiled at her words and nodded his head in confirmation of her assumption. When she pulled hers out, Zane moved a bit closer so he could take a peek at how it worked and how it looked. In his short life, the young teen had rarely seen many poke'dex so it was always cool to get a gander. He just hoped she was fine with his small approach. Of course, Caterpie wasn't, the worm pokemon quickly retreated to his hip once again. But Arak stood his ground on his shoulder, ready to defend it's trainer. Then there was Abra... he just slept.
"Whoa that's pretty cool..." he gawked and then tacked on approval toward the idea while turning to look at her. "Yea, let's head over there now and we can leave town for the grove when we are done." he said with a smile before turning his eyes back down to the poke'dex.
Zane couldn't help but smile in admiration at how she handled her Pidgey. Though, her words about Abra turned his attention to the mysterious Psi Pokemon as he thought about what she said. "Capable of doing everything in their sleep? That would be a useful trait to have just for myself!" he said with a hearty laugh. While he was the type to wake early, he never really wanted to get up. Zane began to wonder if he could ever be like Abra and be able to act in his sleep.
Thankfully, Saarda pulled him out of that thought and asked a question, requesting his opinion on the matter of her poke'dex. "Hmmm..." Zane began, ruffling his non-existent beard. "Why don't you just have them update it to the National Poke'dex setting? That way you get updated lists of pokemon, and keep the information already stored on it. Plus, I am sure they can make some repairs to it if it's condition poor." he suggested with a sure nod. "Come on, let's get moving." he concluded and began down the street in the direction of the building.

She held out the Pokedex a little further than normal as he moved closer, obviously interested. She chuckled as Caterpie disappeared to his hip and made dissaproving little noises at the closeness, while the Spider type pokemon stood her ground puffed out so that there could be no mistaking her intent. She would defend her trainer against any and all threats. Pidge didn't seem all that interested. She just sat there preening again. Saarda watched Zane as she told him what Abra could do, his eyes widened, lips pursed thoughtfully, then he grinned, and declared it 'pretty cool'.
As he thought about her question on her poke'dex, he scratched his chin and then answered practically, suggesting that she update and repair it. She nodded as he waved her forward and started walking, but she just chuckled, "What about Abra?" She asked, gesturing at the sleeping psi Pokemon, who Zane had forgotten to call back, momentarily. Abra, however just teleported after them. "Wow." She said, "I didn't think..." She looked at Pidge, "That is pretty cool." She said admiringly. "What would you think of being able to do that Pidge?" The Bird type shrugged and cocked her head at the psi Pokemon as though she didn't know quite what to do with what she'd seen.
They had stopped walking for a moment, Saarda patted her thigh, "I guess he could follow us to the Association Building..." She shrugged, looking at Zane, wondering if the oversight were intentional, so that he could test that what he had heard, or if the young man had just goofed.

"Pretty cool right? That is Abra's teleport for ya. I personally think it's his most useful move he knows. If we ever come across any person in need, we can use his teleport to take us to the nearest Poke'center or hospital." Zane explained as his Poke'mon slowly followed them by teleporting. "But I don't usually let him do it for too long. It wastes his Psychic power." he added and then took Abra's pokeball off his belt. "All right, come on back." The teen said as the red beam of light sucked Abra into the safety of the Poke'ball. "Come on, it's not too much farther." he said with a smile and resumed their pace.
Within minutes, Zane would arrive at the Poke'mon Association: Kyozon headquarters, hopefully with Saarda still in tow. It was a pretty large building, and appeared to be busier than usual due to the dead line of the first gym opening coming close. But Zane had no interested in things of that matter, he simply want a Poke'dex so he could know more about the poke'mon he were facing out in the wild. Moving over to a helpful looking lady, he inquired directions. With the knowledge happily given, Zane lead the way over to a counter to discuss his needs. He figured Saarda's request would take a bit longer, so he would let her speak to the man behind the counter first.

Saarda ambled behind Zane as he talked to the helpful lady and then lead the way up to the desk where an almost equally helpful looking man sat patiently dealing with each patron before them, until finally they were next. Zane gestured toward the attendant that she should go first, so she smiled her thanks and produced her Poke'dex. "Hi." She said, "My name is Saarda, I- er... I have a Po'kedex," She showed it to him, "It was my mom's, so it's pretty old and kind of beat up, but still has a lot of useful stuff on it. I'd like to have it updated and repaired, rather than replaced." She said, passing the old piece of equipment on to the man who took it with an odd expression on his face.
"Hmm." He said, more to himself than to her, "How old is this thing?"
"I'm not sure" She said, "Mom says it was one of the first ones made."
The man sighed, "Young lady, this thing is an antique. I can repair it, but the memory functions won't... It would be better in the long run, if you are going to be a Poke'mon trainer, to replace it. I can transfer the data to a new one for you if you like."
Saarda was surprised that she felt kind of sad at the thought. "Right, of course." She said, "Do that, but I still want the old one, so don't throw it out or anything." The attendant nodded and started in on the data transfer. Meanwhile, Pidge was beginning to get restless, she cooed anxiously as she looked around. "What's the matter, girl?"
The bird type fluttered, looking this way and that, hopping back and forth on her shoulder, "Do you need a rest?" She asked, touching the place on her belt where she stored her Pokeballs. The Pidgey flapped her wings then hunkered down, eyeing her surroundings suspiciously, sharp little talons digging into her trainer's skin, "Pidge, what is it?" Pidge looked up, gesturing wide with her wings cooing her name several times before looking into her trainer's eyes. "You don't like being inside." Saarda realized, "Sorry, Pidge. It's a necessary evil right now."
The man behind the counter nodded to himself a moment later, and said, "Right, the transfer is done, and here is your new Poke'dex. Have a great day."
Gratefully, Saarda took the two devices, the first chunky and red, the second was basically a much more streamlined version of the first. She looked back at Zane, wondering how his Pokemon were doing, then she moved out of the way and waited for him to get what he needed. As she stepped away, she looked around the busy room. There were so many people sweeping about in a blur, they all seemed so busy doing some thing or other. She shifted her weight from foot too foot, wondering if it was about the Poke'mon league, or something else entirely. She spotted a poster nearby. Something about the new gym. "Cool." She looked at Pidge, "We'll request a battle here some day..." She told her friend, "When we do..." She smiled. Pidge shared in the moment, calming as her Trainer calmed. She nodded, grinning and clenching her fist, "That'll be a great day."
Lost in her daydream, Saarda was unsure of how much time had passed. She was reasonably certain it hadn't been more than a few minutes, but time was sometimes a strange thing, so she looked over her shoulder, then realized that was the wrong shoulder. She blushed, in embarrassment, hopefully though, nobody had noticed. She shrugged, and started looking through her new Pokedex.

Zane stood by Saarda as she dealt with the man behind the counter. He eventually leaned against the counter to watch the people bustling around while she conversed. It didn't take too long for them to finish and allow Zane to achieve the purpose he had set out for in the first place. it was some quick paper work to register officially, and he had to show the man his Abra he got from Willow. Just a few minutes more and a brand new Poke'dex was given to him. Zane thanked the man quickly and looked to Saarda that he was ready to go.
Moving just a few feet away from the counter, he turned to his temporary companion with a smile and returned all of his Poke'mon to their poke'balls; even with Caterpie protesting. "Well shall we head on out to the grove? It'll be interesting seeing how useful this thing is." Zane said with a grin. "Maybe one day it'll be as full as yours!" he laughed and would wait for her response, and hopefully for her to initiate their exit.

It didn't take long for Zane to finish getting his Pokedex, when he turned to her, she knew he was ready even as he said "Shall we head on out to the grove..." She nodded and waved him toward the exit of the building. "This should be fun." She said happily.
