Looking back on life I find myself very blessed even though at the time it was very difficult for me.
Even with one of Kanto's own gym leaders showing psychic prowess, I was bullied by people at school. I understand now that they just didn't understand me and that made them lash out in fear. My parents, thankfully, were the type who were very loving and nurturing of their son who turned out to have some extra issues than what they bargained for. They did everything that they could have, well, except doing the jerk thing and sending me off to some lab to be tested on. No, they were vigilant and never gave up on trying to find the help that I so desperately needed.
There were times when I would dream at night that I would trash my room with psychic power. I was pretty good at keep a lid on my emotions, especially around my bullies; but every so often they would get away from me and I would lash out. It only ever caused my situation to get worse as those around me would only fear me more. Eventually, I just stopped going to school and stayed in my room at home: afraid of myself.
One day, a letter arrived in the mail for my parents. It was an option that they had considered a long shot and expected the note to be bad news. But to their surprise, the Gym leader Sabrina of Saffron City agreed to take me under her wing and show me how to control these power of mine. That was the day my destiny changed.
Years went by. Instead of school, I would go to her gym for nine months and be privately tutored and trained to manipulate the psychic energies within and around me. The once sullen, sad boy I was turned into a cheerful and eager one; a boy with hope for his future.
I grew older and older and eventually was ready to step out into the world and use my powers to help people. I was going to show them that psychics weren't meant to be feared. But, on my very first mission, I learned my hardest lesson. The world wasn't as nice as Sabrina and those in the gym. There were those who were out to use you for their own means.
Team Rocket had been officially disbanded for a long time by that point, but there were still those who actively acted under their banner and with their ideals running about. I was naive at the time and hadn't heard anything in the news regarding them ever in my life. So when they approached me saying they needed someone to help them out, I was eager to prove my psychic powers could be used to assist rather than harm. To make a long story short, I effectively robbed a warehouse of several very expensive prototypes and was promptly knocked out by a blow to my head. When I came to, an officer was standing over me looking for an explanation. To say my trust in strangers was severely ravaged would be an understatement, but my optimism wouldn't waver.
Months later, I got caught up in what would probably be the greatest defining adventure of my lifetime. My immaturity got me caught up with two ladies who couldn't have been more opposite. Greyson, was by all means your standard adventurer, but she had an agenda on her mind which got her caught up with the other. Her name was Jenny, and believe it or not, she was a cop of some kind. I can't go into much about her as I believe it's classified information.
Anyway, we got wrapped up with this HAL corporation and their poke'bots more than once. In the beginning I thought they were just your run of the mill crazies, but it turns out they had real designs on changing the face of the world with their technology. Time flashed before my eyes; especially during that time in my youth. I was on an adventure with real heroes and using my powers for good! But when you toil with troublemakers, life doesn't always end on a happy note.
The key to their plans, at least this is what they claimed, was a special stone which we happened to locate mere moments before they did. It was at that moment that all my premonitions up to this point made sense. A mythical poke'mon known as Celebi appeared to me as a human girl and confirmed to stone be one of the few her species were destined to protect and watch over. And, apparently, the dreams and visions I had received since I was just a small kid had been leading me to that very moment.
The heaviness of the situation finally got to me. I could feel the responsibility of what lay ahead like never before. My joy turned to determination with Emm at my side. (Emm was the nickname for Celebi given by the group, short for Emerald) We pushed forward with a new goal in mind. Return the stone to it's alter atop Mt. Silver. In the end, we fought a Mecha-Zapdos with a Zapdos of our own thanks to a Ditto I had picked up along the way. But it was a bittersweet end to our adventure. Celebi who had been along side me since a child disappeared into the stream of time, off to fight some other folks who dared threatened the flow of time itself.
I still remember staring up into the sky up at the stars. From the altitude, they were clearer than any I had seen before. But deep inside I felt like something was missing. Thankfully, there was a woman who had helped us on our journey by the name of Amelia. She had some psychic power of her own, or perhaps something different; I wasn't sure. But she had known about Celebi far before any of us, so I decided to accompany her back to Ecruteak City in Johto. It seemed like fate, as I learned later there was a Celebi shrine in a forest not to far away from the city either. Perhaps... Maybe I would see Emm again.
