It's been around two days since I caught ponyta. I called him out of the ball only the one time, to make sure he was OK... which he was, of course. Poor guy. The problem was, he was still quite riled up from the battle, and couldn't stand the sight of Jig. Now, standing in the midst of the silent grove- around which many rumors have arisen about ghosts- I decided it would be a good idea to test his mettle. "Go ponyta!" I called, releasing the fire horse. He immediately stiffened, and looked around until he saw me, and snorted. "Ok, buddy. Clearly, you remember me. You remember what happened? We're partners now, you and I, because I caught you."
Ponyta snorted again and began to graze. "Well, you and I... and Jig." At this he raised his head and shook his coat, stomping his feet angrily. "That's not going to change because you've got the grumpies, Ponyta. You are a part of the team. So is he. And I'm planning on catching a new pokemon today, so... You want to help?"
Ponyta watched me nervously, before returning to his grass, and uttering a quiet neigh of acknowledgement. I coughed nervously, then looked around. "Well, let's find something."

Just then, there was a loud rustling sound from the bushes. Ponyta lifted his head up and flattened his ears. Then suddenly, a wild Zigzagoon appeared! Well, poked his head out of a bush is more like it. "Zig?"
Ponyta growled at it, and it growled back. The ponyta looked at me, and I said, "Tackle it." So, Ponyta went and aimed for the zigzagoon, but the pokemon leaped out of the way, and wagged his tail at ponyta, who looked back at me questioningly. I began to realize that this pokemon was, unlike Jig, not going to take the initiative. He looked at me as if to say 'Well go ahead and train, miss Trainer. I'm waiting to be impressed.' Frankly, it was a little insulting.
"Alright, use tail whip and follow it up with a tackle." Ponyta snorted and whipped his tail about then tackled the place the zigzagoon had been before. I sighed. Accuracy was something we would be working on. "Hit the Zigzagoon with tackle, Ponyta! Hit It!"
Ponyta cast around, looking for the furry little trickster, but to no avail. Frustrated, he brayed at me, and I groaned. "Alright, alright, it's ok. You did good." I frowned, "Come here, Ponyta." He trotted toward me haltingly, almost warily.
I scratched my ear and met him half way, "How about something to eat?" I said raising my hand up to stroke his muzzle. "Would you like that? Berries, oats, something good."
My new pokemon nudged my hand slightly, still nervous about me. "Hey... I just... well, I wanted to say sorry about how I caught you... The only pokemon I had back then, was Jig, and he's a ghost. Back before he died, he knew other attacks, but now all he knows how to do is nightshade... and that scared you pretty bad. I'm sorry for that." Ponyta nudged my hand gently and snuffled.
"Ok, food." I went and pulled out the bag of oats and berries that the professor gave me when I told her I'd caught myself a ponyta. "Here's some-" As I opened the bag, I found a very strange sight. A small, ledyba was there staring up at me, terrified, from within the bag, holding feed in all four hands with one of them up to it's mouth. It squeaked at the sight of me, and froze. I looked at Ponyta, then back at the ledyba, and then set the sack down. What should I do with the tiny creature. It had probably been separated from it's family, and it was obviously very hungry. Even so, it'd invaded my bags. I stepped back, placed a hand on Ponyta's withers and wondered aloud what to do.
Ponyta pawed the ground with his hooves, telling me he'd obey if I needed him to fight... but did I? I pulled a pokeball from my belt and threw it at the tiny bug type. If it didn't stay in the ball, I'd have Ponyta attack... but I didn't think the little guy had very much fight in him.

Once the ball clicked I smiled. "That was a much easier catch..." Ponyta agreed and began snuffling at the bag of food. "Oh, yeah, go ahead. Ya know what, I think I have a name for you." He perked his ears at me and began to eat. Multitasking. "Luota."
Ponyta snorted and took another bite. "And the ledyba..." I picked up the ball he was in, and let him out. "I think I'll call you Bug." The Ledyba looked up at me, now that he wasn't scared, he was almost haughty. "Well, unless you have a better idea."
The bug pokemon shook his head then flew the short distance to the food, and began to gobble it. Of course, his mouth was very small, so it didn't much matter how fast he ate, he could stuff himself and have only eaten the equivalent of a few mouthfuls of what Louta had. I sat down and relaxed in the sun with my pokemon and decided I might just have a nap there. Yeah. A nap sounds... good.
