Most people who look at me don't seem to get passed the style I have chosen for myself. It's not that I am particularly going for that look, but rather, I am comfortable in this kind of clothing. I can tell that most brand me as a punk; but I don't let it get to me. You see, school taught me two things that an adventure wouldn't be able to. One was arithmetic, and the other was to be thick skinned. People were usually judgmental and assumed all sorts of things based on looks alone, not that I blame it. That's just human nature. But poke'mon on the other hand... I suppose that was my real motivation behind leaving home and starting an adventure. People make me unsettled, especially new people. But poke'mon didn't judge you. They accept you as another living being on this earth, that's what attracted me to this life.
When I had heard about the local professor giving away poke'mon to new trainers, I was quick to respond. What I didn't expect was for her to be offering an egg option. When I asked her about it, she told me that lost or abandoned eggs were often brought to the lab for care. Once hatched they were released into the wild. Naturally new trainers could request an egg, but Ms. Willow had no way of knowing what poke'mon might be inside. It didn't take more than a moment to decide to take one of the forgotten eggs. Someone out there didn't appreciate life, and it was my opportunity to show them that all life mattered. So I was given my egg, a small smile on my face when it was in my hands. I looked to the professor with a nod of the head. "Thank you..." I said softly before wrapping my arms around the warm shell and made my way outside.
I quickly made my way towards my current living area: a tent on the outskirts of town. I had taken what money I had saved and bought myself the proper gear for traveling. A tent, bedroll, canteen, rope, and some other items. The life of a trainer wasn't as easy as some made it seem, unless you were a prodigy at battling and could win money that way. Still, that wasn't important. I was content with my situation for the time being... and I was finally gonna meet me new friend. Or so I thought.
When I got to my tent, I wrapped up the egg in my blankets to keep it warm and must have just starred at it for hours. I even fell asleep for a few hours, and when I awoke, nothing had changed. A bit of defeat flashed on my face, and I put my ear to the egg to see if I could hear something. Faint signs of life came from inside, but not much stirring. "I guess you are pretty comfortable in there aren't you?" I whispered with a smile. Taking some time in thought, I grabbed the blanket wrapped egg and put it into my backpack that was meant to hold my tent. "Let's go exploring." I spoke aloud and began to trek into the nearby woods.
I kept this up for a couple days. Going to and fro, taking meals, and often just talking to the egg itself while I looked up to the sky. It was on the third night of this that something happened. I was speaking about the constellations, and how I was learning to identify each one. I didn't realize it at the time, but my smile was wide. I was in bliss just speaking to this egg that had no ears. Or did it? As I turned to wrap it completely before going to bed, I noticed a small fissure on the side of the shell. At first, I freaked out, wondering why I hadn't noticed the abnormality till now. But then it grew longer and wider until audible cracks vibrated on my ear drums. In milliseconds, I was on my knees cheering the little guy on. "Come on, you can do it, push outta there!" I said with an excited look. It was imperative I not touch the egg, as I had previously heard that it was the hard work on being born that made the creature strong.
It took a long while, but his little head began to poke out of the rest of the shell and look up to me. The green bowl cut around his head was beyond cute; my cheeks ached from the smile I had held so long. But when he noticed my own smile, he smiled right back and I just about lost it. Tears of joy fell down my face onto the blankets around the broken shell as I hunched over, lost in emotion. But then the most amazing thing happened. My own Ralts scooted over and hugged my head. I couldn't sustain my chuckle and looked up at him. "Hi there..." I whimpered, picking him up into my arms for the first time in a gentle hug. My first poke'mon...
I have no words to describe the feeling.
