Zane took his first steps out of Willow's laboratory with large Pokeball in hand, his eyes starring down at it occasionally. The feeling was mixed. He was excited and wanted to jump and up and down but refrained because he didn't want to look like a fool. Instead this refrain made his hands shake as he walked away heading towards a small park. He wanted to get better acquainted with his Pokemon Abra before even thinking of going out to explore that territory he had always dreamed of traversing.
It only took a few minutes to walk the half mile to the very green and open park. There were a few kids playing tag on the playground while their mothers and fathers conversed about the dealings of their lives. Some bird Pokemon chirped in the trees, and Zane could even spot some Wrumple hiding in some branches. "Pokemon are so amazing..." he thought before reaching a bench and pulling out what Professor Willow had given him. Five empty pokeballs and one filled one were placed on the table. Zane reached out with his shaking hand and grabbed the one his Abra inhabited. Popping it open, and red light beamed through the air until his Pokemon appeared, then the ball closed and he set it down.
On the table sat his Abra. The creature was eerily quiet, letting out only a few small peeps of "Ab...ra....ab...ra...". After about a minute of this Zane got fed up waiting for recognition and waved his hand in front of his Pokemon's voice. That was when he noticed. "Your asleep!?" he exclaimed in shock. Their first meeting and the Pokemon just slept? Zane didn't know that Abra slept nearly 18 hours a day, everyday. "Wake up Abra..." he mumbled lowly and poked the Pokemon right between the eyes. The steady voice of Abra ceased for a moment as it began to look around at it's surroundings, surprised not to be in the lab anymore. Zane looked at it, head cocked with a slight smile. "Good morning sleepy, I'm Zane, your trainer." The young teen first said. His Abra turned it's attention to him and seemed to be studied him. The Pokemon lifted a finger and poked Zane right where he had been poked, and seemed to nod his head in agreement. Had they just made a pact? "Abra ab." The pokemon said with a more finite and sure tone. It seemed he recognized him as his trainer. Zane couldn't help but smile, this Abra seemed very sure of himself. "Cool, glad we understand each other." he said and then got up on the table to sit next to the creature.
What Zane didn't know is that Abra had been reading his mind to learn about him. The reason he was so sure of himself was that he could see what had just happened in the Lab, because Zane couldn't stop thinking about it. But Zane had no idea, he just looked down at the Psi Pokemon with a smile and then out toward the Bird Pokemon in the trees. "So what can you do Abra, what moves do you know?" he asked, as if having a conversation. In response, Abra just smacked Zane in the arm with his hand to display Tackle and then teleported on the boy's head to show him Teleport. "Ow... not very refined but I get the idea. You can throw your punches and teleport us places. Not bad for now I guess." He sighed and the looked up to a Wrumple. "You see that Wrumple--" he began but was cut off. The Abra was now standing on the table, turning it's trainers head to look at it. Now that they saw eye to eye, Abra poked his forehead, then poked it's forehead as if trying to say something. Zane looked at it strangely. "Huh? What are you--" he was cut off again by Abra pinching his lips.
The trainer and pokemon sat there, with Abra trying to display that he could hear him fine and he didn't have to speak out loud. Eventually it took some charades from Abra to get him to realize what was going on. "So you can hear my thoughts? But that is so...strange. You want use to communicate like that?" he asked, looking at his Pokemon. The Abra nodded. "I guess it will come in handy in battle, you will be synced with my mind and I won't even have to say anything." he mentioned, and the Abra nodded again. Turning back to the Wrumple, Zane began to let Abra know what he was thinking. "Could you take out that Wrumple? Knock him out? I want to see what you can do." he thought. Abra disappeared from the table and reappeared behind Wrumple, and with a well placed tackle, made the worm fall from the tree unconscious. Then it reappered on the table. "Amazing..." he thought and then rubbed his Pokemon's ear. "You can go back to sleep now, thanks." he said with a smile and the Abra resumed his steady breathing. Taking the Pokeball, Zane put Abra back in his ball and collected the rest of them. Shrinking them, he fit them onto his belt and stood up, ready for the new day.
