As soon as he heard that there was a rare fish in Lake Provenience, Zane was on the move to search for it like everyone else. He had his three poke'mon with him as usual, Caterpie out on his shoulder and the other two in their Poke'balls. "So Caterpie, are you going to show me some power or are you just going to get confuzzled like you did with Saarda in the grove again?" he joked poking his poke'mon in the nose. The Caterpie huff and proceeded to talk his ear off. But Zane was truly worried about Caterpie. While his personality was amazing, he didn't want to put him in harms way if he was just going to continue getting hurt. Today would be a true test of power for the young poke'mon, especially if they found that rare poke'mon!

Stepping toward the water, Zane began hooking together a rod while Caterpie crawled off to go take a drink near the edge. It was quiet however, early in the morning, a time that Zane enjoyed due to the lack of sound. A very thin layer of mist had covered the lake and the insects were still asleep in the surrounding forest. For just a moment, Zane let himself enjoy that feeling and watch Caterpie move in and out of the cold water.
At first, his little bug jumped back at the temperature, but grew bolder and bolder and began to frolic in the new sensation. It made Zane smile softly until he regained sense of purpose and continued putting together the rod that he had bought. Where did the money come from? His savings. As a trainer there were few ways to make money aside from battles. He wasn't a breeder so he couldn't barter with poke'food, and he wasn't going to make his poke'mon do those god awful shows either. So he dipped into his savings he had brought with him. Sighing as he thought about it, Zane cast the line out into the water and began to wait for a poke'mon to take hold of the bait below.
Caterpie eyes the line for a moment and then continued to splash and play. The teen trainer wondered if it was scarring the fish off and have minded to tell him to get his butt up to the land and get ready for a fight. But at such a peaceful time, it was a beautiful thing to see Caterpie having such fun. Plus, sometime fish jumped out of the water to catch bugs on the surface. Wait a minute... "Hey Caterpie why don't you come back up here with me." Zane suggested with a beckoning smile. His poke'mon eyed the water for a moment and quickly bounded upward like a dog happy to approach it's master. It made Zane grin widely as he stuck his rod into the earth below so that it would hold itself.
Laying back, the young trainer starred up into the sky for what seemed like eternity. But eternity was quickly ended with the familiar sensation of suction pads climbing over him. Soon Caterpie he was starring at him as he looked upward and the two locked eyes. The worm turned it's head in splendor and then curled up on his chest to cuddle. Zane sniffed slightly and leaned his head forward to kiss the Poke'mon on it's head and then went back to his cloud gazing. The two laid for another fifteen minutes without interruption.
But it was time for a battle, as Zane began the feel slight vibrations from the earth by his legs. Looking upwards, he noticed the rod making strange movements as if being tested by a poke'mon. "Caterpie look." he said. The young Bug turned to face it and watched with big black eyes. Just then, the Poke'mon caught and the rod popped free of the ground. Zane quickly caught it and began to fight the fish, whatever it was. It seemed strong and fast, and seemed to have alot of fight; the teen knew it was going to be a while before Caterpie even had a chance to finish it. Minutes passed while they battle-- rod and poke'mon. But soon he could feel the Poke'mon begin to lose it's strength. "It was a good fight, but you're no match for me." he said, looking down to Caterpie who got prepared to fight.
In a flash of water, a majestic looking Goldeen flew out of the water and landed near the shore in a sorry looking state. All the fight with the rod had tired it out, it seemed to not have any fight left. "Caterpie, string shot for me, keeping it from heading back into the water." he ordered and his Poke'mon responded quickly by doing so. Taking off a poke'ball, Zane tossed it through the air to attempt to catch this water poke'mon.

With a successful capture, Zane quickly unleashed his Goldeen and set about thinking of a name for it. As the red beam came forth to set Goldeen out, the first thing that came to mind was Goldy. "You idiot, you can't name it Goldy. Let's check the Poke'dex." he said and flipped out the machine. Zane's left eyebrow rose at the mention of disliking captivity. Looking to his new poke'mon he wondered if it were true. Obviously no one would like to be caged up in a tank. "Don't worry, I will let you out whenever there is water nearby." he vowed and then went back to thinking. "It has a powerful horn, and name Goldeen... how about Gorn? Tought sounding, you're tough right Gorn?" He spoke aloud and the Goldeen made a ramming motion with a tough expression. "Good! Why don't you and Caterpie play some more then we will head into town." he smiled, sitting back down to stare at the sky. [Topic Left]
