Zane nodded his head and began to think of ways that his poke'mon could train. As bug poke'mon, they were pretty much in their element in the forest and he was having trouble thinking on how he could challenge them. But Zane looked over when she spoke her assumption and then started blushing. He chuckled and figured he didn't quite have a plan. Normally he would just go exploring, but he wasn't alone anymore and he didn't know if she would enjoy the silent exploration of trying to find something new. Thankfully her poke'mon got all bothered and and it gave him some time to think.
Looking down at Caterpie, he thought of just how he could train them. Pulling two poke'balls off his belt, he dropped them down and released his other poke'mon and then assumed his thinking position. Rubbing his chin some scenarios of them sparring came to mind, but they already knew their strengths and weaknesses. What could they do... Looking to Abra, he got an idea. Zane turned to Saarda with a smile and nodded happily. "I'd like to work on my Poke'mons response time, and your birds could take part to. I was thinking that I could have Abra teleport around and attack them every so often if they get lazy. When they can react fast enough to hit him first, then they get a break." he explained. Abra slowly lifted his head up to smell the air.

She nodded, "That sounds like a good idea, but... well do they have a routine? It would make sense to attack them when they get lazy if they have a routine they aren't performing to the best of their abilities, or are you planning that it'll be just so fast paced that they won't need anything else?" She scratched her head as a silly idea occurred to her, "And what if it's Abra who gets lazy?" Pidge hopped up and volunteered. "Oh? You'll attack Abra if he gets lazy?" She chuckled, but Pidge shook her head and pointed to Tailow, then back at herself, with her wing, and then to Abra. "Oh as a team, then? That seems like a good idea to me. I want you both to work on your dives too, though. And watch out for Abra, he might know more psi moves than just teleport.
As Abra slowly lifted his head, "Is he awake?" She asked in surprise, then also waved to the Spinerak which had just come out of his Pokeball.
Tailow cocked his head at the new bug type which had appeared and watched it's movements intently. So intently that he didn't notice Pidgey taking offense, and sneakily aligning herself so that she could hit him with a surprise tackle and get him to put his focus elsewhere. Pidge winked at the bug pokemon, and smacked him with her wings before flitting off. Tailow gave off a cry and pursued her.
"Guys, get back here!" She chuckled. They ignored her command, so, frowning she cast her pokeballs on both of them. Waited a moment, then released them before her. Each bird was stunned at finding themselves suddenly on the ground before their trainer. They collected themselves sheepishly. "You know why I did that?"
"Low." The tailow shrugged.
Pidgey smacked him with her wing and launched into an explanation, "Pidgey pi pidge pidgeeey pidge ey ey Pidge."
"Tailow?" "Pidge." Pidgey confirmed.
"So you know why, yet you still chose to disobey?" She asked. "Both of you? Tailow, don't act innocently. You shouldn't have let her bait you," She lowered her voice significantly, "and she only baited you because you were staring at Arak. We don't eat trainer's pokemon. In fact, we won't be eating any pokemon!" She returned her tone to normal scolding, "The Pokemon food is more than enough to keep you strong and healthy, and it's better for you in the long run." She frowned. "Now, will this happen again?" Her tone would have told any sensible being that the answer was no. Tailow, however nodded emphatically.
"It will?" She asked.
Tailow heard the tone this time, glanced at Pidge who was shaking her head silently, and then back to her, "Low." he said shaking his head.
"That's better." She said. "Right, sorry about that, Zane. My Pokemon apparently think they're funny."
Pidge snickered along with Tailow,

"Honestly I just came up with this idea right now. Pain should be a sufficient motivator for the poke'mon, if you are willing to put your birds in harms way. And I have a feeling Abra won't let them slack off, will you?" he asked. The Psi Pokemon looked to it's trainer, now fully awake for the short time that he allowed himself to be. Abra nodded his head with a slight smile, being the one doing the training instead of the one subject to it. "Nor will Abra slack off. If he does... well, we will cross that bridge when we come to it." Zane laughed and patted his Poke'mon on the head. Both Spinarak and Caterpie looked at each other in with suspect glances and then to their trainer. Caterpie would have the most trouble since he wasn't as fast as Spinarak. Zane was wondering if they were even thinking strategy at this point, because he had an idea of how they could get Abra in a pickle.
But then her Poke'mon began fighting and Zane looked down to Abra with a look of confusion. "What set them off?" he asked, and the Psi pokemon shrugged. Both bugs that Zack controlled were watching the two birds go at it until they were returned to their poke'balls. They both turns and moved next to Abra to patiently away their trainer's instruction, though Caterpie was trying to climb onto Abra's arm to get a better view. But of course, the Abra merely pushed him off and continued his silent stare. Eventually when an agreement came between them, Saarda turned to Zane saying: "Right, sorry about that, Zane. My Pokemon apparently think they're funny."
"No problem, shall we get started then? Abra, don't get to rough, but don't let them be ok with getting hit." he directed. The psychic type disappeared in the blink of an eye. Both Caterpie and Spinarak moved to the middle of the clearing, waiting for the Poke'mon to reappear. They circled for a bit and then Caterpie got fed up and began a protest toward Zane. It was then that Abra appeared behind him to give the poke'mon a good solid push that sent him rolling. "Rieeeee!" he squealed. Getting up the dizzy poke'mon stumbled until it regained it's bearings. Then it grew angry and began stomping around, taunting Abra to show itself again. Meanwhile Abra watched them from a tree off to the side, waiting for the opportunity to strike again.

Saarda was surprised when Zane said "Pain should be a sufficient motivator." Her lips puckered at the sour thought.
"In my experience, Zane, all that anyone learns when they get hurt is that they got hurt." This was when the pair had their spat, and after she resolved the conflict she resumed her place, "The Pokemon might try and avoid future pain, but that won't necessarily make them any stronger or smarter. And leaving Abra to do the training... well..." She looked to her birds, who eyed her conspiratorially, "That just won't do, will it?" She grinned as they shook their heads in unison.
Meanwhile, Zane was telling Abra not to get too rough, and the Pokemon teleported out of sight. The birds moved off silently, at her direction, searching with keen eyes for the psi pokemon, as the bugs went to the center of the clearing, waiting for Abra to show himself. What would they do when it did? She scanned the forest, looking for the hue of his gold brown skin which would surely stick out against the dark green of the trees and grass. She was surprised when Caterpie got irritated and stormed off in the direction of his trainer. "I wonder..." She murmured, waiting and then, sure enough, the Psi Pokemon appeared and shoved the Caterpie headlong, so that it rolled for several feet, then it got angry and started making all sorts of angry and mocking noises. "So it's a waiting game..." She murmured. She wondered if Zane was communicating telepathically with Abra for each attack, or if it was left to it's own discretion. She looked up at her birds who were becoming frustrated at their lack of success finding the Abra.
"Tai" She called to her Taillow, "Come land beside the bugs, and focus your energy. Pidge, keep flying, and stay active but closer to the other three, be ready for a combo. Tai, remember the attacks Pidge used earlier? Be ready for them." The birds nodded, and went about their respective orders. Tai landed close to Caterpie and began to squawk to the bugs in low tones. It would be good if they were talking strategy, but she didn't quite know what to make of any sounds a bug might make, let alone if the duo would cooperate with Tai's idea. "Stay aleart!" She said loudly, "Remember, Abra is psychic. I don't know if he can read minds, but it would be foolish to assume he can't. Tai, trust yourself. If you feel something coming, act!" Taillow acknowledged the command and continued chirping at the bugs hopefully, his earlier attitude toward them had melted away in the face of an 'enemy' which pushed him toward them as allies. The air was thick with tension, the sounds of birdspeak and the quiet flapping of wings as they waited...

Zane held his tongue from replying, and would rather make a statement through pain. The teen boy remembered what the Poke'dex said about his poke'mon and it's abilities. "Abra, let's have some fun. Multiply yourself." he directed in his thoughts. Targeting the other poke'mon, and not the trainers, Abra focused his psychic power, his eyes glowing red, and made ten of himself appear around the group of Poke'mon. With ten false images, and the true Abra in the tree, Zane wondered how his poke'mon would react.
Spinarak quickly fired a string shot at the nearest one he saw. It went through the illusion and Spinarak quickly turned around expecting an attack from behind. But he only found more Abra; he didn't know which was real. Caterpie on the other hand raged at the site of all the Abra and immediately jumped forward to tackle one of the illusions. He only flew through the air and landed confused looking up to the birds to let him know which was the real one. Abra would look for a true opening... and there was one. He teleported behind the turning Spinarak and swung with his arms. The illusions flickered just as he did so, but that didn't alert Spinarak soon enough. Pain shot through his body as the Psi pokemon disappeared again waiting for an opening.

Saarda's eyes widened as Abra appeared all around the clearing, doing various things, generally moving menacingly toward the bugs. Tailow made a loud annoyed squawk, and flicked his wing at Arak, trying to let the other Pokemon know, before it was hit, that their true opponent was not yet afield. "Tai Taillow!" He shook his head as Arak attacked an illusion, and Caterpie tried his best to tackle a different illusion. He inhaled and exhaled, waiting. "Tai-" The illusions flickered, and Spinerak was hit. "Taillow!" It admonished the bugs. They weren't cooperating, attacking random targets, seemingly rage had clouded their minds.
"Tai, focus your energy! If Caterpie and Arak won't listen they won't listen! The next time Abra comes in hit him hard! Pidge, he's got to be somewhere pretty close, I think. Even if he's using his telepathy with Zane... well, maybe not..." She frowned in frustration, scanning the brush, down low? Up High? Where would she hide if it didn't matter where she hid because she could just move in the blink of an eye with no travel time? "I wouldn't." She said chuckling. "Pidge, fly through the illusions, but stay ready. Try to show the bug Pokemon that they need to work with you! Caterpie, Arak, please listen to Tai! You can't do this alone." She added on quietly.
Moments passed. Nothing happened. Tai closed his eyes to allow his instincts to take over. The illusions faded as Pidgey flew through them, and then reaffirmed themselves behind her. For almost too long, this was the way it stayed, then the expected attack came, directed at Pidge this time. She had become complacent in flight. Tai growled, warning Pidge, then launched himself at a space of empty air just inches ahead of her, slapping something with his wings, and pecking furiously- but by the time anyone besides the pair- and perhaps Zane- had realized what was happening then Abra was gone. Tai resumed his place, eyes closed, focusing his energy and senses. Pidgey cried out triumphantly and resumed her flight, scanning the trees and bushes with renewed vigor. "Good attack, Tai." Saarda said with a smile. "You OK Pidge?"
Pidge answered affirmatively, then, with surprise, she cried out, zooming toward a tree. Saarda followed her path with her eyes, noticing a slight flicker in all the illusions around the three who still sat before her, except one... "No, Pidge!" She called. In disbelief the bird pokemon protested, pointing at the evident Abra. "It's not real!" She said on instinct, "Come back, we-"
The Abra which was not an illusion launched it's self toward Taillow and the bugs. "Taillow Growl, then attack the Abra that's attacking-" Before she could finish her sentence all of them began to attack. "Pidgey get your feathers back here and use Sand attack, then tackle that one!" She pointed at the one she believed was the real Abra. Pidgey flew back, flapping her wings desperately, and heading in for a tackle. Tai coughed, in confusion, unable to see which illusion his trainer had meant. "Get Abra!" Saarda said, realizing that suddenly it had become less about training all of their pokemon, and more about the battle and the bugs.

Unfortunately for the group, both Caterpie and Arak had prejudice against the bird poke'mon and wouldn't be listened just yet. Though Taillow was working his hardest to get them to listen, Spinarak was in his own world trying to focus while Caterpie was just being troublesome. Zane smiled as the girl was trying to figure out if he was in cahoots with his poke'mon. While he was letting his poke'mon make moves of his own, Zane would point out chances for attack if he saw them. As Saarda pleaded with his bugs, an eyebrow rose on the young teen before her. "Interesting tact..." he thought and looked at each pokemon for a bit then back to Saarda who was now searching around herself. "Giving the Poke'mon your help will only make them more dependent on you..." he thought, folding his arms thinking of situations where the trainers might be indisposed. It wasn't quite what common for a trainer to be indisposed, but he had heard stories before.
Meanwhile, Pidgey was flying through the illusions making sure none of them were real. "Very smart." Zane said, knowing that it was not Pidgey who had devised this, but Saarda. Zane was watching when the attack came and had his eyes fixed on Taillow. The bird seemed to have a sixth sense about it, knowing when the attack was coming and guessing the appropriate location for Abra to appear. The blonde trainer looked at this as training for Abra, would he notice who was the more potent enemy of the bunch? For now, the bugs seemed helpless from the ground, but this Taillow had some sort of sense.
But then Pidgey got a whiff of the real Abra and that changed things. In a matter of seconds the situation changed to minute chaos as Saarda began shouting orders while Zane remained silent to see how his Poke'mon would react. Luckily, Abra's courageous nature allowed him to be unaffected by the growl and carry on with this attack of illusion and physicality. With the illusions being attack by the bugs, the birds were doing their part to finish off these fakes. As soon as the Sand Attack was summoned however, all the Abra in the area disappeared into thin air. "Where did you go..." Zane muttered looking around himself. While Caterpie was lost in the whole exercise, Spinarak was looking around instinctively trying the think. Just then, above Taillow in the air, Abra reappeared ten feet up, his fist down world at the ground. Letting gravity take him, he began to fall towards Tai. Zane rose his head to see the attack. Now it was a matter of would the others.
Spinarak was looking up at the birds when the attack came and squealed bug sounds as it fired string shot passed Tai into the air at Abra. Though it hit Abra, it did not stop his approach toward Tai. But Zane looked to his bug with a smile. "Luck or not, you got 'im, come on over Arak." he said. The Spinarak quickly turned and crawled over to Zane, confident the exercise was over for him.

As Pidge's sand attack swirled around the group, Tai stilled himself. He knew something was about to happen, and he knew he could not rely on his eyes. Too much had happened that day for him to think otherwise. Sand Attack had ruined all visibility, but he could still hear. Caterpie was somewhere nearby, lost to himself in the cloud of dust. Tai allowed thoughts of that bug to slip away. Arak was searching around, still relying upon unreliable sight. Pidgey had climbed again, and was currently searching, preparing a tackle, but Tai... Tai was still. He was waiting. When Abra appeared above him, launching what could have been a crushing tackle if he had been unaware, Arak shot him with an ineffectual string shot. It didn't really even slow the psi pokemon down, but it was rewarded being taken out of the fight. Tai, rather than evading the tackle, flew to meet it. He had managed to store a huge amount of strength away in the time he'd spent using Focus Energy. "Pidgey! Tackle Abra from his right flank! Taillow's got him from above, Caterpie, if you can hear me, you should focus your attack on Abra now! String shot, tackle, whatever you've got, hit him with it! This is your chance to prove that being a psychic doesn't mean Abra should be exempt. I know I'm not your trainer, but if you can put aside your anxiety of birds just this once, I'll give you a huge pile of Pokemon food when this is over!" A little voice in the back of Saarda's head said 'Bribery... really..?' She replied 'Pssht, nah, positive reinforcement!' Nodding in thought.

Well, positive reinforcement or not, Caterpie adored the sound of getting more and more food. It was natural for him as a worm to always crave the energy giving substances. So the little bug would do what Spinarak did and fire string shots. At least, he would try to. Problem was he didn't want to hit any of her bird poke'mon on accident. At that point, the small bug was wishing for wings of his own... Growing from his back he could easily fly up to assist in the air, but down here he was useless.
As the fight raged, on Abra was too focused on his attack toward Tai to even worry about Pidgey. Having the poke'mon all working together wasn't apart of his plan, and his teleport was tiring him out. Needing his rest, Abra flippin the air the shield himself from Taillow's power up attack before disappearing and reappearing at it's trainers side. Caterpie hadn't got a single hit, but was eager for it's rewards. Hurrying over, it began to bounce in front of Saarda, begging for good. "Not quite what I had in mind, but that's a nasty duo you have their. Train them more and you will be unstoppable in a double battle." Zane admitted toward Saarda.

Smiling at the bouncing bug, Saarda knelt down and laid out the promised pile of pokefood, and patted the bug's head, "You did good little guy, you just need to try to get a little more accuracy." She looked over at Abra who had gone back to Zane's side, and said, "Abra, the way you used those clones was awesome, and your teleport move had all four of these guys and me running for our money. If you want, I have some food for you too." She grinned at Zane, "I'm a regular pokemon snack bar."
Tai and Pidge landed on opposite shoulders, "And you two!" She said with a happy lilt in her voice, "You were amazing!" The pair made appreciative sounds as she handed them both down to the ground, and poured out their portions. "Arak..." She frowned for a moment, considering the way it had left it's weaker partner in the field, then remembering that it had followed orders to a tee. She had a smile for the little spider pokemon, when she said, "You did just what Zane told you to do. Good job. Your trainer has the benefit of years of practice that you don't have. Sometimes, following his direction, can be the difference between not only victory and defeat, but life and death." Offering a bag of the little berry snacks to it.
"But," She continued her lecture, knowing that that was what it was, "Sometimes, that's not enough." She looked at Tai and Pidge, "Maybe someday your trainer won't be able to direct you... Maybe I'm cut off from you. Maybe I don't see something critical. What then?" Pidgey was looking at Saarda with confusion. Her trainer had been with her for as long as she could remember. What could separate them? "Then..." She told them sternly, "You need to work together against the odds. You need to rely upon each other and find your way back to me... or maybe even fight to save me." She shrugged. "Back in Kanto, where my mom is from, Team Rocket was really active. They stole Pokemon from their trainers... mom's bulbasaur was one of those. If something like that ever happens here..." She shook her head, "Even if I can't tell you what to do, you need to know what you should do. That's why I'm teaching you to work together." She explained. "But Pokemon need their trainers to teach them, so they can grow strong and wise."
Zane after her speech, admitted, "Not quite what I had in mind, but that's a nasty duo you have there. Train them more and you will be unstoppable in a double battle."
"Wow, thanks!" She said, feeling every drop of blood that filtered into her cheeks in an involuntary blush, "Seriously, that's... thanks." She scratched her head, "Like I said, what you did with Abra... that was cool. I don't know how much you were involved in directing that, but it was seriously impressive. One on one, I don't think either of my Pokemon could beat him. Of course, that just means we have to train even harder." She grinned. "Right, guys?"
The birds nodded simultaneously. "Getting in tune?" She asked, "Well, you are a lot alike. Silly birds."

Zane laughed at her snack bar comment and shook his head in humor. "It would seem that way would it not?" he chuckled and then motioned both Abra and Arak forward. "Well go on then." he urged. Abra simply teleported in front of the girl without outstretched arms ready to receive food, and once he was given, the poke'mon would quietly eat it without a word.
Arak however, listened to what she had to say first, and by the end of it was feeling very confident in himself and his trainer's decision. After doing so, he quickly moved forward to receive his food and Zane couldn't help but wonder a few things about the food himself. But Saarda had turned her attention to her birds which got Zane thinking about how well they worked together as well.
Soon after his comment, the other trainer was blushing because of his compliment and he just smiled. She countered his comment with one of her own and he looked over to Abra winking. He only needed to remind him of using an ability, the rest was up to him and only those two would know it. "Well, he has pretty much been that great since I have got him, so it's been a blessing to have such an responsible poke'mon." he responded with a smile as she also urged her poke'mon for the need for more training. Zane couldn't help but smile and think that is where the true bonding comes. The bond between trainer and poke'mon is not during battles, but the training in preparation for them.
But Zane had a nagging question that just needed answering because of his status in a certain matter. "Now Saarda, just how much money does it cost to buy all this food? It can't be that cheap, isn't it engineered?" he asked. Abra had finished his food at that point and teleported back to his trainer and began to put himself into the sleeping trance. Spinarak had finished his as well and began to eat Caterpie's who was shooing away by smacking him playfully with it's tail.

Zane and Abra shared a sly look, after Saarda complimented the Psi Pokemon, and she wondered again, which of them had really been leading the battle. Zane broke through her reverie as he said, "Well, he has pretty much been that great since I have got him, so it's been a blessing to have such an responsible poke'mon." Then after she told her Pokemon they needed more training, Zane asked how much the Pokemon food cost, possibly wondering how he'd afford it, on what her mother would call a 'Trainer's salary.'
"Before I left home, my parents gave me more of the stuff than I knew what to do with, and at the time, I didn't even have any Pokemon! Actually, it's really simple to make, just berries, sugar and some rice or flour, and depending on your needs, a protein supplement. Kind of like cookies. It's like... berry blending, only with some baking." She shrugged, "Anyway, it's a little more expensive here than it was in Hoenn, but probably only because it's new here. It shouldn't cost much more than say a plate of food in a fairly nice restaurant, to buy a six pound bag at the Pokemart. Not exactly cheap, but you can make it yourself... Generally, if you do, it is cheaper, depending on what you want to add to it.." She scratched her head. "I could show you. My home made stuff isn't as good as the store bought stuff yet, but I'm still learning."
Tai hopped over to where Caterpie and Arak were, and he lowered his head, chattering quietly to the pair, who had been squabbling over Caterpie's food. He looked particularly at Arak, who had been trying to take Caterpie's reward for its self, and chastised it with a demonstrative flickering of wings.

Saarda would come to explain just how she got all the food and it made him seem somewhat bad. Those were going away gifts, and she had freely given them to him. Zane began to feel an urge to pay her back somehow. Then his thoughts were answered, she offered to show him how to make it. He would take the time to learn how and then make her a batch of his own so she would be restocked. Before speaking however, he ran through her words once more time. "It would be awesome if you could teach me, that way these guys don't have to deal with bad camp food when I am out of the road." he said with an embarrassed smile, scratching the back of his head.
Arak turned to the bird with a glare and used a flick of the head to tell it to buzz off. This was a match between the two bugs, and Arak wasn't going to let some bird who thought it was boss get in the way. Caterpie on the other hand just kept eating through it all, stuffing himself to the point where his belly rounded. Even if he could finish the food, it was already a feat to have eaten so much.

Zane looked troubled as she told him about how to make the food, saying "It would be awesome if you could teach me, that way these guys don't have to deal with bad camp food when I am out of the road." With an embarrassed smile. Was his cooking really that bad? He scratched the back of his head.
She shrugged, "No problem. I saw some berry bushes back that way when we came through here earlier. We could pick a bunch then go back to town and put them on ice in my room at the old lady with the Pikachu's house- she lives just outside of town, near the beach. She's letting me rent the space for practically nothing until I can get on the road, because she's an old friend of the family. Then we can get the rest of the stuff at the pokemart, and borrow Mrs. Tarchyn's oven... or we can try to go au natural, and use what we can find around here." She gestured around them. "You know, so you can do it on the road... only problem is cooking utensils." She looked around, getting excited, "But we're smart people, I'm sure we can find something..."
As Arak glared at Tai, warning him off, the bird resolutely defended the little worm. "Tai." He snapped, telling Arak he wasn't being bossy, he was trying to defend Caterpie because he'd done his best to help when Saarda had asked him, in battle, and the food was his reward. He wasn't going anywhere fast.

Zane smiled at her agreement to teach him; she did offer after all. "Ah good. Well we can certainly do all that, but I think it would be best for me to learn how to do it naturally first, then learn the easy way. If I can do it the hard way, then the easy way should be a ton easier, right?" he said and then tried to remember the berry bushes on their way in. He wasn't very observant of his area, and this realization made him scold himself. "A good trainer must always be aware of his situations in case an emergency happens." He said, citing the words of his father. "So shall we go now? Or was there anything else we needed to do out here beside get those berries?" he inquired.
Meanwhile, Tai was berating Arak in an attempt to horde food for himself, telling him it was Caterpie's just award for listening to Saarda. "Arak Spinarak." he retorted harshly. Arak was announcing his disapproval of Caterpie listening to another trainer. He should have never listened to Saarda, even if there was a reward because it showed his disloyalty. "Arak!" he added saying what if Zane disowns him now for being disloyal. Caterpie looked over with fearful eyes. "Caterpieeee!" he squealed and pushed the food away. What if Arak is right!?
