After picking up their new Poke'dex, the duo had traveled through town to get to the outskirts and make their way to the Silent Grove. Zane had come along purely to get some more information for his poke'dex, he was curious to see how it worked. While Saarda would be trying to train her new Pidgey as well as possibly trying to catch her first pokemon in the Kyozon region. It would be fun to be apart of that great moment when a trainer finds their first friend that was earned, not given.
Zane had gone in quite a bit before stopping to sit on a stump and wait for Saarda to take charge. For this time, he would be the follower, and she would be the one in charge. Hopefully she found something cool so that his first Poke'dex entry would be a unique one; or else, he would have to take each of his poke'mon out to get them registered within and the information on each.
It was sunny out, and the bugs were rather quiet. Hardly any wind ran it's way through the grove, so the warmth from the sun was palpable. Not that many poke'mon were in sight, often running away initially from two trainers making their way through the trees. But they would be back as usual, or just didn't care and continued their way of living. Zane began looking around as he messed with the settings on the Poke'dex so as to find some kind of Poke'mon to register.

As Zane sat down on his stump, Saarda looked at Pidge, and said, "Right, Pidge. Let's see what we can do. Show me a tackle." Pidge looked at Zane mischieviously, lifted a wing and smacked her trainer in the side of the head.
"Pidgey!" She groaned with a face full of feathers, "That's not what I meant." The look Pidgey gave her said she should have been more specific. "Piiiiidgey." She cooed innocently.
"Yeah, you're not fooling anyone." Saarda grunted. "OK sand attack. Oh and not on me this time... or Zane, that would just be rude." She added.
Pidgey flitted from her perch and whipped up a sand attack facing away from her trainer. Then she landed, and looked back to Saarda. "That was good, but in a battle scenario, your opponent, whether it's wild or not, won't just sit back and applaud you. You need to stay aloft. Only about thirteen percent of all Pokemon are flying type, but the other eighty seven are limited to the ground. That means while you're in the air you're less vulnerable." She said, citing trivia she'd learned from some trainer magazines, and other fact books while she was studying in school.
Pidge cocked her head, then took off from the ground, and flew around her trainer's head.
"That's good Pidge, now, try the sand attack once more, facing away from us, and stay in the air as you do." Pidgey acknowledged the command by doing as she was told, diving and using sand attack, then pulling back up in a slow ascent. "Good attack, but your climb was slow. We'll work on that another time." She said with a nod. "Now, once we find some pokemon, we can test whether you tackle is as good as your sand attack, or if it only works on me." She smirked.
Pidgey cried out defensively, scanning the ground as she flew, for any potential opponents.

As Zane admired her Pidgey and it's ability of flight, he wished he too had that power. The young teen had always thought of being able to fly and the freedom he could gain from such a thing and often remembered that some poke'mon had the ability to carry their trainers wherever they wanted to go. It was then Zane realized he needed to go catch himself a nice little flying type pokemon! The thought was quickly dismissed as he got a cute, yet deceptive little look from her Pidgey when it was told to tackle. His eye brow raised and a short "Huh?" came forth from his mouth and then Pidgey practically slapped her upside the face. His mouth hung open in shock. It that were his pokemon, he would immediately summon his others to 'train'. And by train, Zane would have had them all battle against it until it could no longer move from exhaustion. But Saarda handled it much better than he would have, perhaps having more trust that with time her Pidgey would whip into an obedient bird. She continued with her instruction, testing her poke'mons limits while Zane finished tweaking the settings of his Poke'dex and then began registering her Pidgey. When the optics of the machine rested on the Pidgey, it quickly came to life updating it's information and began to tell Zane about it. Zane couldn't help but look to Saarda and her Pidgey. "It would seem your Pidgey goes against the norm, cause he seems anything but docile!" Zane laughed aloud and put his hand on his belt, about to release Caterpie to get it's poke'dex input on it. But then he heard another set of flapping wings and quickly turned around to see a Taillow flying this way. Perhaps this was the Poke'mon that Saarda would test her Pidgey's tackle against. Nevertheless, Zane quickly pointed his poke'dex in it's direction to gain it's information.

As Pidge scanned the ground, Saarda scanned the skies. There, another bird type. Saarda called out to Pidge as it came near, "Look there!" Pidge followed her trainer's line of sight to the body of another bird type. Saarda opened her Pokedex, and lined up the sights.
~ Taillow: A flying pokemon. It courageously stands its ground against foes, however strong they may be. This gutsy Pokémon will remain defiant even after a loss. On the other hand, it cries loudly if it becomes hungry.~
"Pidge, watch out!" She cried as it angled for her Pokemon in what seemed to be a tackle.
Pidge evaded, "Time to prove that tackle works on more than me, girl! Tackle that Tailow! Try and get it from the top, force it to the ground."
Pidgey climbed and swooped down, banging furiously into the other bird's back. It gave out an irritated yelp as it fell, but regained it's footing as it hit the ground. "Pidgey, don't let up, hit him with a sand attack, then tackle him again!"
Pidgey did so, whipping up a furious storm which obscured the other pokemon's vision, and then whirled around and launched a tackle. The Tailow squawked and tried to fly out of the dust storm, but Saarda called out another tackle, and the small bird fell to the ground again, just outside the still hazy sand storm Pidge had whipped up. "OK, back a bit, Pidge, and wait. I'm going to try and catch it." She pulled a pokeball from her belt pouch, and threw it at the dazed and possibly KOed pokemon. "Who knows, we might have a new friend soon."

Saarda got to work quickly as the Taillow took the offensive, and Zane watched with a smile as she handled the attack with ease. Pidge dodged easily and the two began a quick bout for dominance of the air. Zane was shadow boxing the Taillow for Pidge as if it could actually do anything. in fact he gave a little cheer for the Poke'mon when he sent the wild one to the ground.
But Saarda knew she couldn't let it get back up, so she had Pidge trap the Taillow in a quick dust cloud. "That's a really good tactic, I'll have to remember that one." Zane told himself and watched Pidge move in for the final hit. The tackle sent the Taillow to the ground outside of the sand attack and Saarda announced she was going to try and catch it. Zane folded his arms with a confident smile, as catching it in that state should be no problem. But as it shook, it quickly came out of the Poke'ball with a passion looking for round two. "No way!" Zane shouted. He couldn't believe it regained composure so quickly.

Saarda wasn't really all that surprised when Tailow popped free- after all, everything she knew about the Pokemon said it wouldn't go down easily, but Pidge was, and apparently so was Zane, if his shout of "No way!" Was any indication. Pidge gave off an angry cry and launched herself at the other bird pokemon, but the Tailow was in no mood. He flew to intercept and tried to peck Pidgey. The attack missed as Pidge evaded. She was really good at evasions- something to do with being a part of a species which preferred flight to fight?
"Pidge, he's coming around for a second attack, dive, then sand attack, and hit him again with a tackle!" Pidge did so, pulling up at the last moment possible, then flapping her wings furiously and taking off in the dust, and, while slightly obscured, she hit the other Pokemon again. It fell, ruffled it's feathers, and got back to it's feet stubbornly.
"Taailow." he said wearily, just before Pidge barreled into him, causing then both to roll on the ground. Pidge, remembered what she'd been taught earlier, and immediately lifted off in a swirl of slightly incidental sand.
Saarda sent a Pokeball flying after making eye contact with her Pokemon, and crossed her fingers as it shook...

It was a tense moment as the ball shook once again, Saarda's second attempt at catching the young Taillow. Zane to had his fingers crossed...mentally. He was wishing her luck as it slowly began to stop shaking. Eyes focused, the poke'ball clicked shut. Zane immediately stood with a small clap as she had caught her first pokemon. "Nice work Saarda! You're a natural." he said. "The way you handled Pidge was skillful, I even learned something from it." he admitted, scratching the back of his head. In the moment of her triumph, he took out his Abra so that he could register it within his Poke'dex. The sleeping pokemon hardly moved as he sat, and Zane wondered when exactly it would evolve. While he was pretty sure that the little machine in his hand could tell him, he didn't want to really know. He didn't want to let that be the focus of Abra's training. "Guess you were right on the money then." Zane said with a confirmatory tone. "Looks like they really need all that sleep or else he would lose his psychic powers.... Well Abra, you sleep all you want." he said, patting the pokemon on the head. Suddenly he heard a click on his belt and the red beam summoned Abra back into the ball. "Did he just...?" he questioned and then looked at Saarda, an idea coming to mind. "Hehe looks like you're collecting yourself some bird pokemon aren't ya!" he said with a genuine smile.

Saarda's arms shot up, "Yes!" She cried, "Pidgey you did great! Come here!" Pidgey flew tiredly to her trainer's shoulder, "That was awesome, Pidge! I'm proud of you."
As she patted her Pokemon's ego, Zane said "Nice work Saarda! You're a natural. The way you handled Pidgey was skillful, I even learned something from it." He scratched his head.
"Really?" She asked. "What was that?"
He took out his Abra as she went to get Tailow. She grinned as the Pokedex told Zane what she'd heard from her mother. He said "Guess you were right on the money, then." He said.
"Yeah, I didn't know it would lose it's abilities if it didn't sleep though." She shrugged, "That's kind of interesting. In a slightly morbid- that's not the word, but... yeah- way." Saarda smiled at her newest Pokemon, who was currently resting within the Pokeball. then she heard Zane say something in a surprised voice, and saw the afterglow of the Pokeball. "Did Abra just do that himself?"
Then Zane smiled brightly, and chuckled as he said, "Looks like you're collecting yourself some bird pokemon aren't ya!"
"That's what it looks like." She grinned back. "It's kinda funny. My dad always called me bird." She shrugged. "I know exactly which cliche he'd use right about now. Birds of a feather..." She rolled her eyes. "Hey, mind if I let Tailow out? I'd like to officially meet him, but I don't know how he'll react. Tailow aren't known for being gracious losers, and you have your bug Pokemon... come to think of it, maybe I should get him to a Pokemon center to heal up a bit before I bring him out. That was quite a battle..."
Pidgey heaved a sigh in agreement. "Pidge ey." She said.'
"You're probably hungry too." She held up a finger, "I have some Pokemon food... in here..." She fumbled through the pouch on her hip which didn't hold Pokeballs. "Ah. Here ya go, Pidge. Hey, Zane, you want to give your Pokemon some of this? It'd pretty good quality. Mostly oran and pecha berries."

Zane took his eyes off of the recently released Abra and nodded his head toward Saarda. "Really, the way you used your sand attack to disorient it and then continued the assult was smart. It kept Pidgey safe." he said with a smile. But that was when Abra returned himself and Zane could only nod in amazement.
Zane watched and listened to her and couldn't help but pipe in, "Always flock together!" he chuckled and watched as she worried about Taillow and the state of Pidgey who was probably just tired. "Go ahead and let 'im out if you want, no worries for me. We could always have Abra teleport us back to town if you want. As for the food, I bet Caterpie would love some. That guy is always eating." he laughed and let his pokemon out. The worm stretched quickly and took in the scent of the food quickly. "Prie rie!" he called and quickly crawled close to Saarda.

[no worries, man, I don't mind, enjoy yourself ] Saarda chuckled as she mentioned the sand attack combo she'd used, "Yeah, that just seemed like the thing to do. Natural... ya know?" She shrugged. Then he told her she could go ahead and let Tailow out, so she did. The red light shot out and a slightly ruffled looking Tailow appeared scolding her vehemently. "Hey there to you too." She tried not to smirk, "My name's Saarda, and this is Pidge." At the sight of the Pidgey, Tailow squawked even louder. "Tailow." She called, "We fought, but that doesn't mean we should be enemies. Pidge and I are a team. I'd like you to be a part of our team. What do you say?" She asked voice firm. Tailow considered her evenly, then he looked at Pidge. "Tai Tailow?" "Pidgey pidgey Pidge!" Said the bird type, who gestured with her wings happily, as she answered whatever question Tailow had asked. Tailow looked between the trainer and pokemon then sighed and nodded. That was when Caterpie came crawling from Zane to Saarda at the offer of food. Saarda scooped out a big handful for each Pokemon present, pausing when she remembered Arack and Abra. "What about your other Pokemon, Zane?" She asked, as she knelt, forming piles for each of the three present. Pidgey jumped from her shoulder to the ground and began pecking at her pile, while Tailow did the same with his, nervously watching the other Pokemon. "Oh, I forgot to introduce you to Zane and Caterpie, Tailow. Well, that's Caterpie, and that's Zane. They're friends, OK?" Tailow nodded and started eating, somewhat less edgily. "Caterpie, I'm glad you're not scared anymore... or at least more hungry than scared." She laughed, "I know that two birds must be pretty scary, but I hope you know you don't have to worry about them."

Zane smiled toward the Taillow and simply nodded his head as Saarda talked to his caterpie. He would let her finish before commenting on his other Poke'mon. "They will be fine fine now. It's Caterpie that needs to bulk up for it's evolution. I know that they evolve quickly." he said and then watched Caterpie consume the food after making a sound for a thank you, he assumed. The little bug was a fast eater and Zane was wondered what was going to come next. Was Saarda going to continue to train? Zane was getting anxious, after seeing her do such a fine job. We just wanted to go out and train his own poke'mon to be that much better as well. "Sooo, now what? Gonna keep training?" he asked, pretty forward.

"Sure, why not? The Pokemon don't seem too tired-" Tailow affirmed that... loudly. "and I'm sure your Pokemon want to stretch their legs too." Saarda assumed watching the Caterpie gobble his food even more quickly than the Tailow, who gave the bug type a run for his money. "Though we might want to give them a little time to digest. I don't know if training on a full stomach gives bird or bug type pokemon stomach aches, but..." She shrugged. "Er... what about you? I mean, I just assumed you'd train or try to catch something too, and I didn't really ask." She said, slightly embarrassed as she started blushing. Then her newest pokemon caught her attention as he finished his food, huffed, looked at her, then Pidge, and huffed again.
"What?" She asked him, "Is something wrong?" "Tai." He said looking away in irritation.
"You don't like losing? Don't feel bad about it." The bird huffed again, "Hey, that's fine, I don't like it either buddy, and neither does Pidge. I don't think anybody likes it. Listen though, we should make the best of what we can, right. Let's be friends, OK?" She said smiling. "I won't like you any less because you didn't win, now or ever. I promise." The Tailow considered her with a birdy frown, then he hopped over toward Pidge and started chattering to her in a friendly manner. Pidge returned the conversation with gusto. "Good." She nodded, having forgotten her earlier embarrassment. Now, as she found her hands on her hips, and a proud smile on her face, she felt like an actual trainer.
She glanced over at Zane, and wondered what he was going to do now, that is, what he had in mind when he'd asked her 'now what...' Then she wondered why she hadn't just asked, as he had. "Hey, did you have plans or anything you'd like to do?"
